CHA Names New Chief of Dental Services

“Dr. Lee’s enthusiasm, breadth of experience and leadership will be a fantastic addition to our Dental Services program,” said CHA CEO Assaad Sayah, MD.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a community health system serving Cambridge, Somerville and Boston’s metro-north communities, has named Ryan Lee, DDS, MPH, as its new chief of dental services. In this role, he will oversee CHA’s dental clinics, community outreach programs and General Practice Dental Residency.

Dr. Lee is a double-fellowship credentialed dentist with specialized training in dental implantology, full-mouth reconstruction, oral oncology, IV sedation and dental sleep medicine. As the owner of four dental offices in the Northeast and a dental oncologist and implant dentist consultant for several practices throughout the region, he brings a dedication to excellence in patient care and practice management to CHA.

From 2012-2015, he served as an assistant professor with the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology and Medicine at NYU College of Dentistry. Dr. Lee completed his doctorate at New York University, graduating with honors and serving as president of the American Student Dental Association. Subsequently, he completed a general practice residency at Jersey City Medical Center (NJ), followed by a two-year fellowship in dental oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (NY).

As a major in the U.S. Army National Guard, in which he has served since 2010, Dr. Lee played a key role in the COVID-19 pandemic response. In April 2020, he was activated to lead 18 Massachusetts Army National Guard strike teams and help train 300 soldiers who, under his supervision, partnered with the Mass. Department of Public Health to administer more than 30,000 COVID-19 tests in nursing homes, hospitals, veterans’ homeless shelters and mental health facilities.

Additionally, Dr. Lee travels to Haiti and northeast Asia two to three times a year to lecture at medical and dental schools and provide free dental care for the underserved. He is a board member of For Hope International, an organization committed to sustainable health improvement in Haiti.

Dr. Lee has published research extensively in peer-reviewed academic journals, delivered dozens of presentations to a range of organizations and is a member of several professional societies. Prior to his clinical training, Dr. Lee earned a bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University and master's degrees at Harvard University and A.T. Still University, focusing on public health policy and management.

“Dr. Lee’s enthusiasm, breadth of experience and leadership will be a fantastic addition to our Dental Services program,” said CHA CEO Assaad Sayah, MD. “He is an accomplished clinician, academic and international lecturer whose commitment to innovation, holistic care and public health will help to expand oral medicine at CHA.”
